On Saturday, April 27, over 700 people visited Skyline’s Head Office in downtown Guelph’s historic Gummer Building, getting both a lesson in Guelph’s history and a view of the building’s old and new features.
Skyline opened its doors to the public for free guided tours as a participant of Doors Open Guelph, an event delivered by Guelph Arts Council, which encourages all local buildings with historical, architectural and cultural significance to open their doors to be viewed by the public. The event is also part of Doors Open Ontario, an Ontario Heritage Trust province-wide initiative to celebrate community heritage.
The tour of the Gummer Building included a suite and outdoor terrace on the building’s top floor, the Skyline office and boardroom, and the building’s basement floor, which includes a fully-equipped gym and offers a glimpse of the original foundation.
