Skyline proudly accepted the Gordon Couling Heritage award at this year’s Guelph Chamber of Commerce Awards of Excellence Gala. The award, presented by Architectural Conservancy of Ontario Guelph/Wellington, honours a significant restoration project that supports the city’s architectural history. Skyline won the award for its reconstruction of the Gummer Building (originally consisting of three side-by-side properties) in downtown Guelph, after its damage in a 2007 fire.
“The Gummer redevelopment project was born out of necessity when three of Guelph’s landmark properties were badly damaged by fire,” says Roy Jason Ashdown, Co-Founder and CSO of the Skyline Group of Companies. “We’re pleased to be finally able to deliver these properties back to the downtown core, which is a great place to run business and is showing such excellent potential moving forward. We’re happy to be a part of that, and we’re honoured by the recognition.”
Skyline’s redevelopment involved connecting the three buildings into one, and adding high-end apartment suites to the building’s top floors. The building’s third floor is Skyline’s new Head Office, and it plans to eventually expand onto the second floor. The first floor is reserved for commercial space.
