Skyline Retail REIT wins Commercial Building Award for Property in Sooke, BC
6660 Sooke Road honoured as 2020 winner in Commercial-Retail category
[Guelph, ON – November 25, 2020]
Skyline Retail REIT (the “REIT”) is the proud winner of a 2020 Commercial Building Award from the Victoria Real Estate Board (VREB).
The REIT won in the category of “Commercial-Retail” for its Evergreen Centre plaza at 6660 Sooke Road in Sooke, BC, a municipality southwest of Victoria.
The award was announced at VREB’s Annual Commercial Building Awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
Evergreen Centre at 6660 Sooke Road was purchased by Skyline Retail REIT on October 24, 2018, as part of a five-property portfolio purchase. Earlier in 2020, Skyline Retail REIT completed additional density at the property, adding a new on-site development for four additional tenants.
With a total of 68,809 square feet of retail space, the property’s tenants include Western Foods (grocery), Shoppers Drug Mart, Tim Hortons, A&W, and H&R Block.

According to VREB’s website, the Commercial Building Awards recognize developers, architects, designers, builders, owners, and financiers for enhancing commercial real estate stock, stimulating urban renewal, and for the risks they undertake to build and renovate commercial space within the Victoria community.
Judges selected from various disciplines within the industry visit eligible projects and examine the overall exterior design and how it fits into the surrounding area. Judging criteria are based on projects that are sensitive to the environment, are aesthetically pleasing, and answer a specific developmental need within the community.
